A journey back home

My journey back home from Chennai is mostly lonely, worst if it is an AC compartment. Somehow I find my fellow travelers in AC compartments too rigid or unapproachable. Most of them are IT professionals busy gaming or watching a movies on their laptops or immersed in reading. May be the introvert in me is the prime factor
for this unapproachability. I will be near the compartment exit door during most of the journey , enjoying the rail side beauties and the songs from my mobile. Weirdly i like
this also. It gives me time to think , imagine , decide a lot of things. Its also kinda tiring too.

But that is not what am going to write here. This time , my journey back home was something I will cherish for sometime . I was on my way to Sabarimala , booked an 3AC
ticket back home due to unavailability of seats in non AC compartment. I boarded the train on time and as usual my section mates was bit hesitating to open up. I thought ,
“Oh another long lonely travel”. As a back up I always carry magazines. So i picked up a Mathrubhumi weekly and started reading . Being a people watcher or a person who
likes watching people , the odd guy sitting to the section right of me caught my attention sometime in between . A 25 yr or so guy  with clean shaved pleasant face , uncombed not that short-not that long hair , quite masculine frame, a dark stripped white vest , a denim shorts and a very new footwear. I mentioned him odd because, his expressions and moving around  had something that was not matching somebody of his age and definitely not an Indian male of that age. So childish, unorganized, tensed …he was everything abnormal for a guy having that masculine features. The guy with whom I was sharing the seat fell asleep while I was out for sometime and I had to find another seat . I had to move the section where the guy I mentioned was sitting. I was busy reading the magazine , but at the same time I was watching this guy interacting with a middle aged person with a very laid back style and in simple cloths.

Our guy was showing the stuffs that he was having with him . First he showed him his new digital camera , its features, the modes of taking photos , then he took photos and showed it to him. I was over hearing their conversation. From that I came to know about the middle aged person . He was Srikumar , an army personnel returning home from Imphal. After the demonstration of digital camera , he shove it down his trouser pocket. Then they started chatting about marriage and stuffs.I got involved in reading again. Again when the tea vendor came along , our hero , he ordered for a tea. Just out of curiosity i watched this guy . He shoved his right hand to the trouser pocket just to bring up a load of things from it. I was amazed to know that a single denim trouser front pocket can hold. A shaving raser set with 3 spare blade packet, many folded pieces of paper, 2-3 credit cards,a battery set and many more things that i couldnt identify . And yeah that pocket didnt have the currency he wanted. So digging the other pocket happened , to find a digital camera, a scrambled kerchief, some currencies , some tickets, coins … I couldnt resist a smile.

Then came the demonstration of his laptop. For that , he dragged out his big travelers bag underneath his seat and just opened a portion good enough to put two hands together. When he took out an ordinary plastic cover , something we use here to buy fish from market , it was for the first time I am seeing someone carrying a laptop in that kinda plastic :( . A pretty big sleek laptop neatly kept inside a see through green plastic . The best part was when he opened it . It was missing at least 8 to 10 keys too. I really started liking this guy.

So he was Karthik , was studying in loyola chennai 10 years back ( ie 97) then went to US . Returned twice in ( 2001 and 2004 ) and this is his third visit to India. All these info I grasped from the conversation between srikumar and karthik. I made friends with Srikumar when train reached a station and we both got down for some fresh air. In between our conversation there , he mentioned about Karthik. He raised his finger next to his ear and circled it showing , one or two screws were loose for Karthik. Anyways, we had a great time together for the later part of the journey.

Karthik was on his way to Palakkad to meet a girl he met online and fell in love with . I wished him good luck and really hoped that everything works fine for him. He was so childish and innocent , that his love seemed to be so pure. Or else who will take all these hardship and spend so much money to come to this remote part of the world and take such a risk.

Thatz all folks..Wish he found his destiny..

Mahindra Classic

Happy New Year, I know no one is reading all these…But still , for those who wandered into my space in this vast web .. Have a peaceful and happy year ahead.

When I was a kid ,I could only dream of buying a Mahindra Classic. Now when I can afford one , Mahindra has stopped selling them in Indian Market. Still I am keeping the dream alive, some day I will a get good Second Hand Classic.

Though I dont understand much of the mechanics of the automobiles , I do enjoy their beauty and do roam around the web trying to grab , what ever knowledge I can. Though I have read many reviews, am not much aware of the working of engine and stuffs..But that doesn’t stop you from being a enthusiast , right???

Well , this is one link I came across while surfing .
Spanish launch of Mahindra Classic , though they are naming it Bolero
Translated version
If it was in India , I might have given a try.
